Background information: Summersville, West Virginia is a small town located in the central part of the state. With a population of around 3,500 residents, it is known for its scenic beauty and outdoor recreational activities such as fishing, hiking, and boating on the nearby Summersville Lake. It also has a low cost of living and is a popular retirement destination. However, it has a limited job market and can experience harsh winters.

Summarizing user reviews about living in Summersville, it seems to be a mixed bag of opinions. Some praised its natural beauty and affordable cost of living, while others expressed frustrations with the job market and harsh weather. One user, Emily, wrote, "Summersville is a beautiful town surrounded by nature, perfect for outdoor enthusiasts. The cost of living is very reasonable, but unfortunately, there are not many job opportunities here." Another reviewer, Mark, shared a similar sentiment, stating, "The natural beauty of Summersville is unmatched, but the lack of job opportunities can be a challenge for residents." On the other hand, some users like Jessica highlighted the town's friendly community and slower pace of life, saying, "Summersville is a tight-knit community where everyone knows each other. It may not be the most exciting place, but the slow pace of life is refreshing." However, not all reviews were positive, as seen in Andrew's comment, "Summersville can be a tough place to live during the winter months. The cold weather and snow can be a struggle, and it doesn't help that there's not much to do in town." Overall, it seems that while Summersville has its charms, it may not be suitable for everyone due to its limited job market and harsh winters.

Sleepy little town - 9/9/2019
I've lived in Summersville for over 20 years and I wouldn't recommend moving here. The job market is stagnant, the mindset is 50+ years out dated, the economy isn't anything to write home about and most of the people are closed-minded and rude. Its a town for old, religious people that don't mind winter. There's virtually nothing to do, nothing for kids to do and anything there is to do is too expensive for anyone that lives here to be able to afford. The only good thing is there is almost no crime. Summersville is a sleepy little central-southern WV town and you can tell. There's one stop light in town, basically nothing to do in the downtown area (mostly the municipal building, sheriff's station, court house and annex and a few small gas stations) and our groceries and health care are pretty costly compared to most other places. Our population is declining-and there's good reason. I wouldn't recommend anyone moving here that has any intention of having any kind of life other than Read More

Don't need a tooth brush - 8/20/2018
The lake is great but the culture is dated 50 years back. There's no cultural diversity, people are biggots, and a declining population. The youth have nothing to do but drugs and run the streets. The big businesses--car dealerships are crooks and line their pockets with cash from loans of people who cannot afford them. The downtown area is dead which was the biggest mistake of the city council. Don't move here unless you're planning on coon hunting or fishing and living alone in the woods.  Read More
